It’s no secret that I absolutely love gardening. Flowers, plants, the scent of freshly cut grass; they all have the ability to make me smile and feel grounded. I truly believe that the connection that we have to nature is intrinsic to our humanity and I have seen how it has improved my own psychological wellbeing.
The good news is that you don’t have to live in the wilderness to regain your connection to Mother Nature. There’s a wonderfully idyllic slice of countryside in South-West London’s Richmond to escape to – Petersham Nurseries. Head over there to enjoy the simple pleasures of smelling roses, running your fingers through ferns and the sight of blooming hydrangeas.
Petersham Nurseries is arguably the most picturesque place in London. It’s a delightful mish-mash of modern luxurious, artisan products with the rustic charm of antique pieces of furniture. Pop into the greenhouse to find an amazing array of cacti, succulents and other indoor plants. I was lusting over the ceramic pots.
The highlight at Petersham, has to be their garden shop which sells unique homewares from around the world. It’s an eclectic mix of shabby-chic
french shutters, opulent Moroccan lanterns and chandeliers and divine Cire Trudon candles.
Every corner you turn, your eyes are treated to a new aesthetic pleasure.
I think that Petersham Nurseries is the prettiest place in London. It is a haven for us bohemian souls. Bloomin’ marvellous.
